FOREST RECREATION TRAIL COMMITTEE
1) Committee Development and Terms:
- In 2004 Hood River County developed the Forest Recreation Trail Committee. The Committee is comprised of 13 members appointed by the Board of Commissioners (BOC) who represent the various users who utilize the trail system including, two citizens, one Forest Advisory Committee member, and one Ex-officio member from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The Committee meets with the Forestry Department and local stakeholders and discusses various trail system development and management issues.
Committee members are appointed to 3-year terms. At the end of each term positions are advertised to the public. Members whose terms expire can also re-apply for the positions if desired. Applicants must be Hood River County residents. The BOC conducts interviews and appoints new members. Positions are also re-opened if Committee members resign mid-term.
