Hood River County Community Development has published a Story Map that shares details and status of the Parkdale Unincorporated Community Plan. What is the Changed Property Ratio and how does it affect property taxes?
When a new home is built you might assume that the entire value of the home is what the taxpayer pays taxes on, but that is not usually the case. Due to Measure 50 from 1997, the Real Market Value (RMV) of the new home is multiplied by the Changed Property Ratio to determine the maximum amount of value that taxes for the new home are based on. The purpose of the Changed Property Ratio (CPR) is to provide new property with the same benefit as existing property under Measure 50. READ MORE HERE>
Wildfire prevention and safety
At this time of year, fire danger will quickly increase as fuels dry out with warm weather. Wildfire prevention should be top of mind to anyone at home, working or playing outdoors. County Campgrounds open for season – Tucker Park, Tollbridge, Kingsley
Three Hood River County campgrounds opened in May, and the season continues through October. Tucker Park and Toll Bridge Park are operated by the County Public Works Department, while Kingsley Campground is operated by the County Forestry Department. Campfires are permitted in campground fire rings until fire season restrictions are declared, however, portable propane cooking stoves and lanterns with shut off switches are allowed. READ MORE HERE>
Active Rx for summer health
Summer is the season for kids to have summer fun, and a great time to cool off in a pool and improve swimming skills. But swim lessons and pool passes aren’t easy to come by for everyone. With grant funding from the Columbia Gorge Health Council, Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District is again offering the Active Rx program for families with financial needs. READ MORE HERE>
