 Parking permits required in County Forest

After considerable effort, public meetings, and input from a variety of users, Hood River County’s Parking Permit Program for the County Forest Fee Parking Zones began on May 4. The program will continue to be carried out by Hood River County’s Forestry Department. READ MORE HERE>

 May Primary Election comes with new rules

Oregon has the longest history of voting by mail than any other state in the country. The State has exclusively used Vote-by-Mail for all elections since 1998, after a decade of allowing it for local elections led to the discovery that voter turn-out increased.  NSA Ordinance awaits U.S. Secretary of Agriculture approval

Amendments to the Hood River County’s National Scenic Area Ordinance were approved by the Board of Commissioners last fall. To prepare, Community Development worked on ordinance changes to align with recent revisions to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Management Plan. The County Planning Commission reviewed and recommended the draft amended ordinance for Board approval and a public hearing was held in November. READ MORE HERE>
