What is public health modernization?
It is a process to ensure that public health services are community-centered, equitable, accessible and affordable. Our goal is to protect the health and well-being of every person in Hood River County.
To do this, we identify, plan for and prevent
- Communicable diseases like sexually transmitted diseases and measles
- Environmental health threats like drinking water contamination and food-borne illnesses
- Health disparities like access to healthcare and healthy food
Two specific focus areas for this work include:
- Lessening the health impacts of climate change in our community
- Advancing health equity for all communities we serve
