The map at left showing Fee Parking Zone Staging Areas (click image to enlarge) is also available on the parking pass webpage. Zones are noted by signs and information. Permits are valid through the end of the calendar year and are required at these zones between dawn and dusk.

Passes must be visibly hanging from a rearview mirror or placed on the driver’s side dashboard of vehicles parked in designated areas, whether they are purchased onsite or online. Permits may be purchased on mobile devices at staging areas in the County Forest. Users who park in designated zones and purchase onsite are asked to write the order confirmation email information on paper (available at staging area kiosks or on a piece of scrap paper) and display the paper on vehicle dashboards. Please read and follow all directions for displaying a permit.

Parking Permit revenue is directed at continued maintenance, development and management of County Forest recreation and trails. County Forestry often receives questions about whether an Annual Northwest Forest Pass, Oregon State Park annual parking pass or a Sno-Park permit can be used in the County Forest. No other agency passes are valid in the County Forest Fee Parking Zones.

Thank you for purchasing a 2024 Parking Permit to support Hood River County Forest recreation and trails!

Forestry Stewardship in Action

The County Forest is central to Hood River’s quality of life. It provides up to 33% of the County’s annual general fund budget, helping pay for core services such as law enforcement, 911, emergency services, public health, roads, bridges, youth and veterans’ services and community infrastructure. Many local businesses also depend on the forest’s economic activity. Jobs are created in mills, forestry, recreation, and hospitality.

Hood River County forestlands are certified through the American Tree Farm System and meet or exceed sustainable and exemplary forest management standards and all aspects of the Oregon Forest Practices Act.

The County plants over 225,000 trees each year to regenerate the forest and provide sustainably grown home building materials for the future. Over 300 homes can be built each year with timber harvested from the County Tree Farm.
