May 20th, 2025 Special District Election
To register to vote, update your registration, or change your political party, go to oregonvotes.gov. The deadline for new voters to register for the May 20th, 2025 Special District Election is April 29, 2025. Ballots will begin to be mailed to local voters on April 30th, 2025.
May 20th, 2025 Special District Election Important Dates
February 4th, 2025 - District board member update form due.
February 8th, 2025 - Last day to publish notice of election.
February 8th, 2025 - First day for a district candidate to file a declaration of candidacy or nominating petition (SEL 190).
February 28th, 2025 - County, District ballot title filing deadline (SEL 805).
March 20th, 2025 - County, District measure filing deadline (SEL 803).
March 20th, 2025 - Last day for a district candidate to file declaration of candidacy, nominating petition, or withdrawal.
April 4th, 2025 - Military & overseas ballots mailed.
April 7th, 2025 - Absentee ballots are available at the Hood River County Elections office.
April 21st, 2025 - Out of state ballots mailed.
April 29th, 2025 - Voter registration deadline.
April 30th, 2025 - Ballots mailed to voters.
May 20th, 2025 - Special District Election Day. The Hood River County election office is open from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm. Ballots deposited in an official drop box must be received by 8:00 pm on election day. Ballots that are mailed must be postmarked before 8:00 pm on election day.
Qualifications for District Board Members
Community College - ORS 341.326 & ORS 341.275
- Shall be an elector who resides in the district.
- If a zoned position the person must reside in the zone.
- Not employed by the community college.
Domestic Water Supply District - ORS 264.410
- Shall be an elector of the district.
- Not employed by the district.
- Shall be an elector of the district and has resided therein for the period of one year immediately preceding the election.
- If a zoned position the person must reside in the zone.
Library District - ORS 357.226
- Shall be an elector of the district.
Park and Recreation District - ORS 226.310
- Shall be an elector of the district.
Port - ORS 777.135
- Shall be an elector of the district.
Rural Fire Protection District - ORS 478.050
- Shall be an elector or an owner within the district.
- A district may determine, by ordinance that takes effect at least one year prior to the date of a regular district election, that firefighters of the district, volunteer or otherwise, and other district employees shall not serve as directors.
Sanitary District - ORS 450.045
- Shall be an elector of or owner in the district.
School District - ORS 332.016, ORS 332.018, & ORS 332.122
- Not employed by the school district (some exceptions).
- Shall be an elector of the district and has resided therein for the period of one year immediately preceding the election.
- The candidate must be a resident of that zone.
Transportation District - ORS 267.540
- Shall be an elector of the district.
