Welcome to the Hood River County Community Development Department.

Our department plays a vital role in balancing Hood River County’s agricultural, natural, scenic, and recreational resources. We are also responsible for managing lands within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

We serve the unincorporated areas of the county by providing a wide range of services and programs. 

At the core of our work is a commitment to responsive, client-focused service. While we may not always be able to say "yes," we are dedicated to providing timely, accurate information and finding practical solutions whenever possible.

Our mission is to sustain and enhance livability in the county’s rural and resort communities. We aim to preserve the county’s agricultural heritage while ensuring residents and visitors alike can enjoy the unique beauty that defines Hood River County.
