Justice Court
The County of Hood River established Cascade Locks Justice Court in 1939 for the District of Cascade Locks. Justice courts are state courts funded by the county in which they reside; they must abide by the County Administrative Code.
Cascade Locks Justice Court is staffed with a full-time Justice of the Peace and a full-time Court Clerk. The courts office hours are from 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday. Staff is available by phone 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday.
The mission of Justice Court is to be available to the public and to provide an informal yet professional atmosphere for those attending court, as this may be their first and only courtroom experience.
A Justice of the Peace presides over the Justice Court in which he or she is elected. A Justice of the Peace must abide by the Judges Code of Ethics, must be bonded and is required by law to attend or participate in a minimum of 30 hours continuing legal education programs every two calendar years.
Justice Courts have jurisdiction over traffic, boating, wildlife and other violations occurring in their county.
