Code Compliance in Hood River County

Working Together for Compliance

Code Compliance is about keeping Hood River County a safe, healthy, and enjoyable place to live. Our program is community-based and complaint-driven, meaning we rely on residents to let us know when there may be violations of zoning, land-use, nuisance, or solid waste codes in areas outside the city limits of Hood River and Cascade Locks.

When a concern is reported, our team reviews the complaint, investigates as needed, and works with property owners and residents to resolve issues fairly. In most cases, this process helps protect neighborhoods, maintain property values, and ensure everyone enjoys a safe and clean community.

The program is managed through the Planning Department, where citizens can file complaints or ask questions about compliance requirements, procedures, and practices. Fees for code violations are administered through Hood River County staff.

Our goal is not just enforcement, but partnership — helping community members understand the rules, addressing problems when they arise, and ensuring Hood River County remains a place we are all proud to call home.
