Forest Management Plan
The 2015–2025 Hood River County Forest Management Plan (FMP) was created to guide the sustainable production and sale of timber, ensuring a consistent source of revenue for the County. Now, a decade later, the County is updating the FMP to reflect current forest conditions, community values, and long-term goals for managing these public lands.
An open house held on November 3, 2025 provided an opportunity for community members to share feedback and ideas for the updated plan. Their input highlighted key priorities and will help shape the next phase of the project, the video recording can be found on the Board of Commissioners meeting information page. County staff and the Board of Commissioners are working closely with the Forest Advisory Committee, the Recreation Trails Advisory Committee, and the broader community to develop this plan collaboratively. You can read more about the Forest Management Plan and the update process in the County’s 2025 Fall E-News.
Public comments will help inform the next phase of the plan and will be accepted through December 15, 2025. Please submit comments to administration@hoodrivercounty.gov
