Effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) will implement Regulated Use Closure (RUC) restrictions and Industrial Fire Precaution Level 3 (IFPL Level 3) in Hood River and Wasco counties due to elevated fire danger.
What This Mean
- All county forest trails are closed to combustion-engine motorized vehicles.
- Open campfires are prohibited throughout the County Forest and campgrounds.
- Portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels are still allowed.
- All vehicles traveling on County Forest roads must carry:
- A shovel and one gallon of water, or
- A fire extinguisher rated 2½ pounds or larger.
- Electric motorcycles and e-bikes are still permitted on authorized trails.
Reporting Fires
- Non-active fires: Call the Hood River County Sheriff's Office Non-Emergency Line at 541-386-2711.
- Active fires or emergencies: Call 911 immediately.
